Wilson appalled by planned Islam4UK March
Sammy Wilson has expressed his horror at plans by extremist group Islam4UK to march through Wootton Bassett to protest against the war in Afghanistan.
The MP was voiced his objection to the group protesting through the Wiltshire town, saying that it is intended to be an insult to the memory of those who have gallantly fought and died in Afghanistan and it should be opposed on those grounds.
Mr Wilson said:
“I want to commend the dignity and decency shown by the people of Wooton Bassett, who have dutifully lined the streets as the corteges of those who have died have passed through the town. They have given due respect to those who have given everything. Their actions lie in stark contrast to those who want to sully the reputation of those have died for their country by holding a demonstration in their town. Islam4UK wants to take advantage of the deaths of service personnel and the reputation of the people of the town by holding their demonstration there so to receive maximum coverage.
Their proposed march is an insult to those who have died and I find it completely abhorrent. Unfortunately, this sort of behaviour is to be expected from a group who has links with those who celebrated the 9/11 attacks. I of course support calls for the march to be banned and I will also support efforts being made in Parliament for this group to be outlawed”
Sammy,
I live in Berkshire now , 30 miles from Wootton, no way can this lot abuse this small village of repatriation for our lads.
Lots of support in this area for stopping the islamists walking!
