Sammy welcomes compensation for thalidomide sufferers
East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson has welcomed the decision by the Department of Health to award £1.1million in compensation to thalidomide sufferers.
The East Antrim MP said:
“I have been a strong supporter of compensation for thalidomide sufferers and have backed campaigns in my constituency and in Westminster, and so I am pleased with the announcement made today.
I want to pay credit to those who have campaigned for so long and I support the fact that the money will be made available through Thalidomide Trust, who do a fantastic job on behalf of thalidomiders.
