Wilson shows East Antrim sights to Shadow Secretary of State
East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson welcomed the Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Vernon Coaker, to East Antrim on Tuesday.
Mr Wilson accompanied Mr Coaker around the constituency to meet with different groups in Carrickfergus and Larne.
Mr Wilson said:
“I was delighted to be able to take the Shadow Secretary of State around my constituency on Tuesday. We visited the council offices in Carrickfergus and were able to meet with local representatives and staff before moving on to Downshire School, where Mr Coaker was very impressed with the students and teachers he met.
We also had the opportunity to visit Larne Skills so that Mr Coaker could see firsthand the excellent work that is being done there in preparing people for employment. Following that we went to FG Wilson, one of the biggest employers in Northern Ireland. With 3100 employees, 1100 of which are employed at the Larne site, it is a real success story in East Antrim.
I would like to thank Mr Coaker for accepting my invitation to show him around East Antrim. In Parliament, the DUP is committed to working with all parties for the maximum benefit of the people of Northern Ireland and so I welcome the opportunity to show colleagues from the Labour Party what is happening in East Antrim, the concerns we have as well as the positive stories that we have to tell.”
